Material selection of rolling bearing ring and rolling element

Rolling bearings are a type of bearing that we often use in our daily lives. Rolling bearings are mainly composed of an outer ring, an inner ring, rolling elements and a cage. For the rings and rolling elements of rolling bearings, the choice of material is very important. These two components can determine the performance and use of rolling bearings. We can choose the materials that meet the needs of rolling bearing rings and rolling elements.

1. High carbon chromium bearing steel

Most bearing rings and rolling elements are made of special steel. The rings and rolling elements are made of high carbon chromium bearing steel (GCr15, GCr15SiMn, ZGCr15 and ZGCr15SiMn), and the hardness of the parts is as follows: The rings and rollers made of GCr15 and ZGCr15 materials are HRC61~65, and the steel balls are HRC62~66; The rings and rollers made of GCr15SiMn and ZGCr15SiMn materials are HRC60~64, and the steel balls are HRC60~66. Bearings made of high carbon chromium bearing steel are generally suitable for working temperatures ranging from -40 to 130 degrees, and are lubricated with oil and grease. They can meet the requirements of general machinery. After high-carbon chromium bearing steel bearing parts are tempered at high temperatures, they can adapt to working temperatures as high as 250 degrees.

2. Carburized bearing steel

The hardness of the rings and rolling elements made of carburized bearing steel is HRC60~64, which is generally suitable for working temperatures ranging from -40 to 140℃. It can be used under conditions of large impact and vibration, such as bearings for locomotives and rolling mills, but the heat treatment process of this type of steel is relatively complicated.

3. Heat-resistant bearing steel

The hardness of the rings and rolling elements made of heat-resistant bearing steel is: HRC60~64 for rings and rollers, and HRc61~65 for steel balls. Under normal lubrication conditions, they are suitable for working temperatures of 120~250℃, such as the main shaft working conditions of aircraft engines, gas turbines, etc.

4. Corrosion-resistant bearing steel

The rings and rolling elements are made of corrosion-resistant bearing steel, and their hardness should not be lower than HRC58. They are suitable for corrosive media such as water, nitric acid, and chemical reagents, and the temperature is -253~350℃.
